Aartje was born on November 10th, 1720 in Nederhemert.1  Aartje's father was Gerrith van Leeuwen and her mother was Maria Martensz Vermaas. She had a brother and three sisters, named Dirk Gerritszn, Maaijken, Maaijken and Heelke.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died before 1769.2
