Aartje was born on August 17th, 1777 in Herpt and her baptism took place there on August 17th, 1777.1 2  Aartje's father was Franciscus van Gammeren and her mother was Jenneke van der Mooren.  Her paternal grandparents were Peter van Gammeren and Aartje van Leeuwen; her maternal grandparents were Cornelis Peterszn van der Mooren and Dingena Antonisse van der Blok. She had six brothers and a sister, named Cornelis, Peter, Gerrit, Antoni, Huijbert, Jan and Piternella.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 70 on September 22nd, 1847 in Veen.2
