Hendrick was born in 1704 in Loon op Zand and his baptism took place there on August 7th, 1704.1  Hendrick's father was Willem Teuniszn van Diemen and his mother was Geertruy Hendricksdr de Haen.  His paternal grandparents were Teunis van Diemen and N.N. N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Hendrik Corsten de Haen and Mayken Petersdr Schalcken. He had two brothers and a sister, named Antonij Willemszn, Geerit and Mari.  He was the third oldest of the four children.
