ALEXANDER was born in January 1906 in at home in Philadelpia,Pa..  ALEXANDER's father was FRANCIS Joseph CONWAY and his mother was LOUISA M ROTH.  His paternal grandparents are PETER CONWAY and MARY HESTER; his maternal grandfather is JOHN ROTH and his maternal grandmother was SOPHIA GEIST. He had eight brothers and four sisters, named FRANCIS J, PETER P., JAMES, THOMAS JOSEPH, WILLIAM FRANCIS, JACK (EDWIN) (EDWARD J), WALTER, GEORGE FRANCIS, MARY HELEN, HELEN, ANNA VIRGINIA and SOPHIE.  He was the third oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 2 in 1908.
