William Roberts 
William was born in 1829 in Leeds, Yorkshire.1 William's father was James Roberts and his mother was Harriet Richardson. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Roberts and Ann King; his maternal grandmother was Mary Stead. He had two brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert, Caroline, Matilda and Mary. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 52 in 1881.2
