Dinesh's father is Maganlal Kanji and his mother is Sivkor Narotam.  His paternal grandparents were Kanji Valabh and Godavri; his maternal grandparents are Narotam Mulgi and <Unknown>. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Nagardas, Jassvantrai, Sacarlal, Hasmukhrai, Vassantlal, Harkisandas, Bhadracim and Radhagauri.  He is the third youngest of the nine children.
