Meta was born in 1877.  Meta's father was John (Jorgen) Michelson and her mother was Marie Neilson. She had four brothers and two sisters, named Nicolena, Fredrick, Alvin, Andrew, Constance and Cornelia (Nellie).  She was the third youngest of the seven children.
