Alvin was born on July 15th, 1879.  Alvin's father was John (Jorgen) Michelson and his mother was Marie Neilson. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Nicolena, Fredrick, Andrew, Constance, Cornelia (Nellie) and Meta.  He was the second youngest of the seven children.
