Avreen was born on October 5th, 1929 in Grahamstown.  Avreen's father was George Baden Willis and her mother was Bertha Louise Turner.  Her paternal grandparents were George Willis and Helen (Ellen) Cinnamon. She has three sisters named Isobel Hope, Helen and Noreen.  She is the youngest of the four children.
