William was born on January 16th, 1801.  William's father was Jarvis Wharin and his mother was Mary Barber. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Jarvis, Henry, Charles Edward, John, Ann and Martha.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 86 on May 30th, 1887.
