Harriet was born on October 22nd, 1839 in Ireland.  Harriet's father was John Wharin and her mother was Catherine (Kitty) Egan.  Her paternal grandparents were Jarvis Wharin and Mary Barber. She had a brother named William.  She died at the age of 66 on February 18th, 1906 in Port Elizabeth.  Her burial was in St Mary's Cemetery, Port Elizabeth.
