Jane was born in 1708 in Bower Chalk, Wiltshire and her christening took place there on October 27th, 1708.1 2   Jane's father was John Witt and her mother was Jane Windser. She had a brother and two sisters, named John, Agnes and Ann.  She was the oldest of the four children.
