Robina was born in 1852 in Haltwhistle, Northumberland and her christening took place on October 11th, 1852 in Wesleyan Methodist, Haltwhistle, Northumberland.1 2   Robina's father was Thomas Blagburn Tallantyre and her mother was Elizabeth Blackburn Angus.  Her paternal grandparents were George Tallantyre and Barbara Mathers. She had a brother and a sister, named John and Isabella.  She was the second oldest of the three children.
