Nellie was born in December 1890 in Walthamstow,  Essex.1   Nellie's father was Edward Presswell and her mother was Sarah Ann Hart. She had six brothers and five sisters, named Edward, James, Arthur, Alfred, George, William, Polly, Emily, Ada, Ethel and Florence.  She was the second youngest of the twelve children.  She died at the age of 93 in March 1984 in Warwick, Warwickshire.2
