Joseph was born in September 1837 in Taunton, Somerset.1  Joseph's father was Isaac Jewett and his mother was Mary. He had two brothers and a sister, named William, Charles and Ann.  He was the youngest of the four children.  He died at the age of 62 in March 1900 in Fareham, Hampshire.  He was buried on March 30th, 1900 in St Mary Extra Cemetery B009 054.2 3
