Sarah was born on November 12th, 1838 in Limehouse, Middlesex and her christening took place on January 27th, 1839 in St Annes, Limehouse, London.1  Sarah's father was Thomas James Horncastle and her mother was Elizabeth Ritchie.  Her paternal grandparents were William Horncastle and Sarah; her maternal grandparents were William Ritchie and Jane. She had two brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, James, Mary and Elizabeth.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 86 in 1924 in West Ham, Essex.2
