Catherine was born in 1829 in Kendal, Westmorland and her christening took place there on November 20th, 1829.1 2   Catherine's father was Thomas Addison Gott and her mother was Ann Ray.  Her paternal grandparents were John Gott and Elizabeth Addison. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Anne and Mary.  She was the second oldest of the five children.  She died at the age of 73 in March 1902 in Kendal, Westmorland.3
