Anne was born in 1832 in Kendal, Westmorland and her christening took place there on April 22nd, 1832.1 2   Anne's father was Thomas Addison Gott and her mother was Ann Ray.  Her paternal grandparents were John Gott and Elizabeth Addison. She had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Thomas, Catherine and Mary.  She was the third oldest of the five children.
