John was born on August 8th, 1654 in Newton Toney, Wiltshire.1   John's father was John Girle and his mother was Margaret Scrapon.  His paternal grandparents were Nicholas Girle and Dorothee Grace. He had a brother named John.  He was the older of the two children.
