Mecez was born in 1580 in Tourcoing, Nord, France.1   Mecez's father was Pierre Farvacques and his mother was Catherine Hughelot.  His paternal grandparents were Guilbert Farvacques and Isabeau Mullier. He had eight brothers and two sisters, named Melchoir, Quilbert, Noel, Michel , Laurence, Guillebert, Jacque, Pironne, Antoinette and Marye.
