Edward was born in 1764 in Botley, Hampshire and his christening took place there on September 29th, 1764.1 2   Edward's father was Joshua Emery and his mother was Barbara Booker.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Emery and Elizabeth Markes; his maternal grandparents were John Booker and Ann. He had a brother and seven sisters, named Joshua, Elizabeth, Barbara, Charity, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah and Ann.  He was the youngest of the nine children.
