William was born in 1757 in Whippingham, isle of Wight and his christening took place there on April 20th, 1757.1 2   William's father was William Chiverton and his mother was Mary. He had a brother and three sisters, named James, Mary, Anne and Hannah.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
