William was born in 1801 in North Tuddenham, Norfolk and his christening took place there on October 25th, 1801.1 2   William's father was Thomas Baker and his mother was Phyllis Tooley.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Baker and Elizabeth Cooke; his maternal grandparents were Philip Tooley and Phyllis Brisk. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Philip, Thomas, Daniel, Henry, George, Elizabeth, Phyllis, Ann, Hannah, Maria, Rhoda and Charlotte.  He was the seventh oldest of the thirteen children.  He died at the age of 68 in September 1869 in North Tuddenham, Norfolk.3
