William was born in 1789 in Mancetter, Warwickshire and his baptism took place there on December 26th, 1789.¹   William's father was John HALL and his mother was Catherina WILLSON.  His paternal grandparents were Joseph HALL and Jane PROCTOR; his maternal grandparents were Thomas WILLSON and Elizabeth <UNKNOWN>. He had seven brothers and a sister, named Joseph, John, Thomas, Joseph, Thomas, Samuel, Samuel and Hannah.  He was the third youngest of the nine children.
