William was born in 1886 in Atherstone, Warwickshire and his baptism took place on September 5th, 1886 in Parish Church, Atherstone, Warwickshire.1  William's father was George HALL and his mother was Margaret Crowley SHILTON.  His paternal grandparents were George HALL and Catherine LAWRANCE; his maternal grandparents were William Henry SHILTON and Catherine CROWLEY. He had a brother and five sisters, named George, Lillie, Katherine, Gertrude, Maggie and Mabel.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.
