John was born in 1810 in Mancetter, Warwickshire and his baptism took place there on June 24th, 1810.1   John's father was John HALL and his mother was Sarah PLANT.  His paternal grandparents were John HALL and Catherina WILLSON; his maternal grandparents were Thomas PLANT and Sarah OUGHTON. He had six brothers and a sister, named Elijah, William, Samuel, Henry, Benjamin, Joseph and Charlotte.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.
