John was born in 1810 in Mancetter, Warwickshire and his baptism took place there on June 24th, 1810.1 2   John's father was John HALL and his mother was Sarah PLANT.  His paternal grandparents were John HALL and Catherina WILLSON; his maternal grandparents were Thomas PLANT and Sarah OUGHTON. He had six brothers and a sister, named Elijah, William, Samuel, Henry, Benjamin, Joseph and Charlotte.  He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 86 in 1896 in Atherstone, Warwickshire.1
