Ric's father was Catalino (Nene) Cabanas Pomar and his mother was Erlinda Oliveros.  His paternal grandparents are Juan  Domingo (Juan D) Pomar and Eulalia (Eulalia) Cabanas. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Boy, Gamay, Edwin, Vangie and Marite. He had four half-brothers and six half-sisters, named John, Nick, Jaime, Nonon, Cheling, Milagros, Lita, Laly, Virgie and Susan.
