Yaakov Zvi was born in Lesko, Poland.  Yaakov Zvi's father was Mordecai Markus Ziffer and his mother was Feige Berger.  His paternal grandparents were Yaakov Zvi Ziffer and Hannah  Yenta (Anchy) Rosenberg; his maternal grandparents were Moshe Aharon Berger and Sheindel Yafa Feller. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Shelomo, Yona, Matilda, Rivka and Ita.  He died  due to Holocaust.
