Hila was born on May 27th, 1975 in Kvutzat Kinneret, Israel.  Hila's father is Shmuel Yitzhak Margalit and her mother is Ronit Arusi.  Her paternal grandparents were Yaakov Margalit and Bilha Heifetz. She has two brothers and a sister, named Adam, Harel and Rona.  She is the oldest of the four children.
