Alice was born in Welton East Yorkshire and her baptism took place there on March 23rd, 1835.1   Alice's father is Robert Garton and her mother is Sarah Rook.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Garton and Phebe Wilson. She had two sisters named Mary Jane and Emma.
