Joseph was born in 1810 in Horsforth Yorkshire and his baptism took place there on July 15th, 1810.1 2   Joseph's father was Joseph Foster and his mother was Mary (Foster).  His paternal grandparents were William Foster and Elizabeth (Foster). He had a brother and a sister, named Samuel and Hannah.  He was the oldest of the three children.  He died at the age of 71 in January 1881 in St James's Horsforth Yorkshire.  His burial was on January 23rd, 1881 in St James Woodside Horsforth Yorkshire.3 3
