Bertha was born in 1884.  Bertha's father was Frank Pschirer and her mother was Mary Anna Boehm.  Her paternal grandparents were John Pschirer and <Unknown>. She had five brothers and five sisters, named Frank, Joseph, Florian, Albert, Clement, Katherine, Carrie, Mary, Elizabeth and Cecelia.  She was the second oldest of the eleven children.
