Solomon was born in 1837.  Solomon's father was John Crick and his mother was Elizabeth Snyder.  His paternal grandparents were Adam Crick and Mary Hammer; his maternal grandparents were George Snyder and Margaret Siple. He had three brothers and six sisters, named David, Sylvester, infant, Lydia, Rufena, Emily, Sarah, Melinda and Mary.
