Eliza was born in 1855 in Sydney NSW, Australia.1  Eliza's father was Charles Empson and her mother was Maria Austen.  Her paternal grandparents were Charles Empson and Esther ???; her maternal grandparents were James Austen and Mary Drury. She had two sisters named Louisa and Sarah.  She was the youngest of the three children.
