Henry 3rd son Spelman (d Virginia USA)

Henry's father was Henry (Sir) Spelman ( WestminsterAbbeyPoet Cor) and his mother is Eleanor l'Estrange. His paternal grandfather was Henry (Sir) Spelman and his paternal grandmother is Frances Saunders. He had three brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John, Francis and Dorothy. He died due to murder / assassination, Killed by Red Indians, in 1622 in Virginia USA.

General Notes
- Sailed to Virginia 1609 with Capt John Smith. In 1614 he was one of a party under Capt Ratcliff who had gone in small vessels in seach of food for the colony. Deceived by the treachery of Powhatan, Ratcliff and his party were slain, only two escaping. Henry was saved by POCAHONTAS, lived several years among the Indians, when he was rescued from Jopassus, the brother of Powhhatan ny another party that had sailed up the Potomac for Corn. Having acquired the Indian language during his captivity he was of great use to his countrymen as interpreter, until he was killed by savages 1622. This same Henry Spelman is reported to be the figure on the stairs in the Captial Building painting of the marriage of Pocahontas to John Rolfe.
