William was born in 1883 in Gorleston Suffolk.1   William's father was Joseph Norris (Fisherman b Whitechapel) and his mother was Maria Sawyer (b Chadwell Heath).  His paternal grandfather was Joseph Norris and his paternal grandmother is <Unknown>; his maternal grandfather was Richard Sawyer and his maternal grandmother is <Unknown>. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Henry, John, Alfred, Emily and Clara.  He was the youngest of the six children.
