Orpha was born in 1844 in Lower Green Wethersfield Ess.  Orpha's father was Joseph of Wetherfield French and her mother was Elizabeth of Finchingfield More.  Her paternal grandparents were Joseph French and Jane. She had seven brothers and four sisters, named Isaac, Thomas, James, Alfred, William, Harry, Arthur, Martha, Jane, Sarah and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the twelve children.




Orpha's family

Orpha and Thomas were married in a religious ceremony in June 1862 in Braintree Essex. They had seven daughters named Sarah, Elizabeth, Susan, Mary, Sophia, Kate and Ethel.
