Eliza was born about 1843 in Barking Essex.  Eliza's father was Samuel Baxter (Fisherman) and her mother was Eliza Nash (of Stratford).  Her maternal grandparents were Nash and <Unknown>. She had three brothers and a sister, named Samuel, James, Richard and Martha.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
