Joseph A. Rao

Joseph A. was born on June 13th, 1923. Joseph A.'s father was Salvatore Rao and his mother was Giosia Vilella. His paternal grandfather is Antonio "Antonino" Rao and his paternal grandmother was Venera "Teresa" Recupero. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Antonio "Anthony", Frank V., Louis, Armando, Teresa and Emma. He was the youngest of the seven children. He died at the age of 63 in October 1986.

- PROVIDENCE --- Joseph A. Rao Sr., 63, of 12 Appian St., a shipping clerk for Universal Optical Co., East Providence, for 30 years, retiring in 1985, died Friday at Miriam Hospital. He was the husband of Eileen (Santagata) Rao.
  
  Born in Providence, a son of the late Salvatore and Giosia (Villella) Rao, he was a lifelong resident.
  
  For the past 13 years he owned and operated Mr. Lemon.
  
  Besides his wife he leaves a son, Joseph A. Rao Jr. of Providence; two daughters, Janice Valedofsky and Colleen Rao, both of Providence; a sister, Emma Truppa of Providence; a brother, Frank Rao of Providence, and three grandchildren.
  
  The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Church, Hawkins Street, at 9. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
