  • PROVIDENCE --- Angelo Aiello, 76, of 80 Elmcroft Ave., former president of the Providence City Council from 1955 to 1959, died Saturday at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the husband of Rose (Belotti) Aiello.
    
    Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Raffaele and Teresa (Rao) Aiello.
    
    Mr. Aiello was a salesman for the Duro Finishing Co., Fall River, for 20 years before retiring in 1975. He was Democrat councilman representing the Fourth Ward from 1941 to 1963. He was a member of the Providence Elks, and a former member of the Aurora Civic Association.
    
    Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Raffaele P. Aiello of Narragansett and Robert L. Aiello of North Providence; six sisters, Emma Pesaturo, Lena Capobianco and Julia D'Agostino, all of North Providence, Viola Hall, Dorothy Ricci, both of Providence, Mary D'Amico of Barrington, and six grandchildren.
    
    The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. from the Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Ann's Church, Hawkins Street, at 9. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
