Elizabeth was born in 1907 in Salford, Lancashire, England.  Elizabeth's father was John HAMBY and her mother was Esther BURNS.  Her maternal grandparents were James BURNS and Esther RAMSBOTTOM.  She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Thomas, John, Charlotte, Esther and Mary.  She was the sixth oldest of the seven children.
