Sarah Saphronia EVANS

Sarah Saphronia was born on May 5th, 1857 in Heard Cty, GA. Sarah Saphronia's father was Leverett Hudson EVANS and her mother was Sarah C. BROWN. Her paternal grandparents were Daniel M. Sr. EVANS and Nancy WRENN; her maternal grandfather was Daniel BROWN and her maternal grandmother is Matilda LNU. She had six brothers and two sisters, named David, John, James Louis, Leverett, George Milton, Daniel, Clara Jane and Eliza. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Jacob, Martha and Mary Ann. She died at the age of 90 on December 19th, 1947.

  CMB to Earl Evans 6/06:
  It is curious that Sarah Saphronia does not appear inLeverett and Sarah C.'s household in 1860, when she should have been three years old. There is no Sarah Evans born about 1857 in
  Heard, GA in 1860, nor do I find a good match anywhere else. What do you make of that? Myself, I wondered
  whether this Sarah S. was adopted between 1860 and 1870.
  
  Earl Evans to CMB 6/06:
  I know Sarah S. was missing from the census in 1860 but I have no idea
  where she was at that time unless the census enumerator just failed to list
  her. I have found such things missing in the past. A book with census where my Fincher relatives lived did not show two fincher brothers but they were
  listed on the microfilm. Whoever copied the census just missed them. I
  do not believe Sara S. was adopted but I will not say definitely that she
  was not. Such things did happen. In the story Sarah Saphronia gave to the newspaper she did not list her
  parents names except Mr. and Mrs. L. H. Evans. This does not solve any
  problems.
