BB: there is a Charles G Brewster who appears in later US Census in Kentucky and is a clerk. I believe his wife WAS born in PA so that would put that Charles G in PA at sometime. The attached (1860 Census for Louisville, Ky and 1880 Census plus two street dirctories) all are a Charles G Brewster of Louisville, KY married to a Sydney b in PA. The 1861 City Directory says he is a "late teacher". In later records he is a weigher and a clerk, dying in 1891, age abt 80. The dates of birth range widelywildly. His mother may have been born in Scotland.
BG: there is no reason why Sallie Barr might not have been born in Scotland.

DB: Found a Charles Brewster, aged 22, who arrived in New York from Liverpool on the "Roscoe" on 22 Mar 1838. He would be born c1816, before Robert died in 1818:
Name: Charles Brewster
Arrival Date: 22 Mar 1838
Age: 22
Gender: M (Male)
Port of Arrival: New York
Port of Departure: Liverpool
Place of Origin: Great Britain
Destination: United States of America
Ship: Ship Roscoe
Microfilm Serial Number: M237
Microfilm Roll Number: 36
List Number: 94
BB: IF I am right the G in Charles name may stand for Graham.
I believe he had a son who died in 1870 in Louisville, KY with the name Charles Graham Brewster.
Check out this Cemetery in Louisville KY where the Brewsters are buried. Charles G was also buried here and IS on Findagrave but I can't find him here. Other members of his family are recorded here.
University of Pennsylvania.
Biographical catalogue of the matriculates of the college together with lists of the members of the college faculty and the trustees, officers and recipients of honorary degrees, 1749-1893. (page 20 of 77)
t CHARLES GRAHAM BREWSTER, A. M.
b. Phila., July 5, 1819 ; d. . s. Charles Brewster and . Entered
1838. Teacher Acad. Dept., 1843-56. Presb. clergyman.
BB: He appears to be the son of a Charles Brewster so he is not the son of Robert Brewster......possibly the son of Charles Brewster b in 1782???
BG: so not our man.
BB: I guess the main point is that Charles Graham Brewster is not your Charles which you were doubting anyway. He fits better with the family of 2 given names.....Graham, Alexander. So we can eliminate him and see where we are!! It would sure have been easier if the stone read "brother of Robert" and not "son of Robert"
