William's father was William Wray and his mother was Margaret (Maggie) Charters. His paternal grandparents were Samuel Wray and Sarah Davis. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Samuel, John, Agnes and Sarah. He was the third oldest of the five children. He died in Ontario.
