Margaret's father was James Rennie and her mother was Janet Stronach. She had four brothers and a sister, named James, John, Alexander, David and Janet.  She was the third youngest of the six children. She had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Peter and Ellen.  She died at the age of 69 on December 8th, 1879 in Inverkeithny.
