Margaret's father was Hugh Potter and her mother was Jean Cunningham.  Her maternal grandparents were Alexander Cuningham and Margaret Brash. She had a half-sister named Alison.  She died due to a respiratory problem and/or pneumonia, chronic bronchitis, duration uncertain; ?? ?? of heart, duration 1 month, at the age of 67 on August 3rd, 1897 in Broxburn.³
