William's father was William Moress and his mother was Agnes Tours.  His maternal grandparents were Michaill Towrs and Agnes Stewart. He had a brother and five sisters, named Alexander, Agnes, Margaret, Janet, Hope and Margaret.  Agnes and William were twins.
