Maggie's father was William McAlpine and her mother was Agnes Walker Graham. Her maternal grandparents were John Graham and Margaret Hay. She had two brothers and a sister, named Andrew, John and Agnes. She was the second youngest of the four children. She died at the age of 68 in 1951 in Glasgow.
