Agness. He died at the age of 81 on January 5th, 1881 in
Shotts. He was buried in
Shotts.

- inherited half of uncle John Marshall's fortune, apart from cash payments to others. Also,his lands at Sandyford and Ferrybank Mill, though only after the death of John's brother Thomas.
His sons also were entitled to a sum of £100 "should any of the sons of James, John or Richard appear to have abilities and inclination to follow out any of the learned professions"
