Elizabeth's father was Robert Mann and her mother was Agnes Campbell Fraser.  Her maternal grandparents were Alexander Fraser and Isabella Adamson. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Alexander, Robert, Janet, Isobel and Agnes.  She was the second oldest of the seven children.
